Our Story

Welcome to our shop!

I am Sara and my husband is Juan, we are the owners of The Birch Bunny. We live and work in Madison WI. We have three kids and in our parenting journey we found a passion for providing our kids with wooden toys made from natural materials rather than a plastic, battery operated option.

As a young family living on a budget it was a challenge to provide our kids with these kinds of toys. I have a strong mixed media art background, this combined with Juan’s previous carpentry work led us to designing and building the toys that we had admired for ourselves.

Along the way our imaginations grew and so did our work as we began making indoor climbing structures. Seeing the way our children (ages 9, 2 and 1) all found their own confidence and joy in playing on these structures we knew we wanted to share them with our local community.

Each of our products are handcrafted and made to order in our small workshop in Madison. Our paints and finishes are all non-toxic and child safe. In the interest of keeping our larger items as affordable as possible they are sold for local pick up only and are marketed to the south central Wisconsin area. We value keeping our quality high and carbon footprint low which is why we do not offer shipping options for our climbing equipment.

We love our community and are excited and energized to offer our products to our fellow Wisconsinites.
